Kuznetsov is now fitting perfectly into his role on the Capitals first line, playing effectively alongside Alex Ovechkin and T.J. Oshie. Fans have nicknamed their line TKO, or the Knockout, because of their effectiveness. Kuznetsov is now second in the NHL in points.
Not just that, but Kuznetsov scored the first hat trick of his young career on Friday night against the Edmonton Oilers.
Assists: T.J. Oshie, Alex Ovechkin |
Assists: John Carlson, Brooks Orpik |
Assists: Andre Burakovsky, John Carlson |
By looking at these goals, you can see the skill level of Kuznetsov and his fellow linemates. Coach Barry Trotz has said that Kuznetsov “wants to be one of the best guys in the game, and I think he can be.”
In 7 games, Kuzya has 3 goals, and 8 assists. He ranks second in the league in scoring.
Kuznetsov was also named the first Star of the Week by the NHL, his first time being a Star of the Week.
As long as Kuzya continues producing for the Caps the way he is now, looks like hockey in Washington has a bright future.
